Just Some Musings

I think there must be millions of closed jasmine buds on my fence. They hang as a promise. Soon, they will gradually erupt like soundless white popcorn. The air will smell sweeter. And this crazy Melbourne weather will keep doing its dramatic dance (wild wind as I write this). I think I’m finally learning how to sit deep enough into my being to both watch it all unfold in wonder and also to participate fully in aliveness, not retreating into that wonder (maybe).

Similarly, but not obviously…

I’ve been learning Brazilian Zouk this year. It’s my first time partner dancing. It’s all new and funny and occasionally very awkward. I dance as a “follow” and sometimes it reminds me a bit of teaching Ashtanga yoga to students at Mysore Melbourne, where I try to listen with my whole being and attune to each student. I try to figure out the rhythm, see how I can “dance” with everyone to make us more graceful. I try to figure out how can we laugh together when it’s awkward, just keep the rhythm somehow, so that our learning can be fruitful and bright.
