Changes for Mysore Melbourne in 2026

2 big blocks per year:

Starting in 2026, Mysore Melbourne will be closed each January and July

This creates two longer teaching periods each year:

  • February → through → June (21 weeks-ish)

  • August → through → December (21 weeks-ish)

This year - closed from 16th December:

Our first extended closure will be December 16, 2025 through January 26, 2026.

We'll reopen on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 with the new structure in place.

This new format has 3 benefits...

1. Aligns with the city's rhythms:

The closures in January (when Melbourne is quiet) and July (when cold, dark mornings naturally see lower attendance) align with the city's rhythms.

2. Momentum:

With two extended teaching periods each year, you'll have the same teaching weeks available to you, just structured differently, giving you a better opportunity to build momentum in your personal practice.

3. Deep rest:

This structure also honours an essential truth: to teach well, I must remain a student. The Mysore method is built on the relationship between teacher and student, developed over time with consistency and presence. So, continuing my own study and practice isn't separate from teaching - it's what allows me to teach with depth and authenticity. The longer breaks give me the deep rest needed to sustain this work long-term.

A few other details…

  • Counted Primary Series classes will take place on the last Saturday of each month (unless it falls on a moon day or public holiday).

  • 10 and 20 class passes are still valid for 90 days. If you have a pass with remaining validity, it will be paused during our upcoming Dec ‘25/Jan ‘26 closure, and during future January and July closures.

  • Options for 5 week membership, 10 week membership, and 21 week membership are now available and you can read more about that here. 5 and 10 week membership can start anytime and those memberships will be paused during our upcoming Dec ‘25/Jan ‘26 closure, and during future January and July closures.

If you have questions or want to talk about how this affects your practice, please reach out. I'm here.
