Changes for Mysore Melbourne in 2026
Dear Mysore Melbourne Community,
I want to share some news about the school's direction as we move into 2026.
What's changing:
Starting in 2026, Mysore Melbourne will be closed each January and July. This creates two teaching periods each year:
February through June (approximately 21-22 weeks)
August through December (approximately 21-22 weeks)
Our first extended closure will be December 16, 2025 through January 26, 2026.
We'll reopen on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 with the new structure in place.
Why this matters:
The Mysore method is built on the relationship between teacher and student, developed over time with consistency and presence. We'll have two extended teaching periods each year. You'll have the same teaching weeks available to you, just structured differently, giving you an opportunity to build momentum in your personal practice. The closures in January (when Melbourne is quiet) and July (when cold, dark mornings naturally see lower attendance) align with the city's rhythms and give me the deep rest needed to sustain this work long-term.
This structure also honours an essential truth: to teach well, I must remain a student. Continuing my own study and practice isn't separate from teaching - it's what allows me to teach with depth and authenticity.
More details about 2026 memberships, class passes, and scheduling will be coming in the next few weeks. For now, I wanted you to hear about this shift and have time to process it.
If you have questions or want to talk about how this affects your practice, please reach out. I'm here.
Amanda
